Catholic Charismatic Conference

March 27-29, 2020

SISTER BRIEGE MCKENNA, O.S.C., was born in Ireland and entered the Sisters of St. Clare at the age of fifteen. Following her final vows and after suffering for more than three years with rheumatoid arthritis, she was transferred to her community in Tampa, Florida with the hope that the Florida sunshine would relieve her suffering. At the age of twenty-four, she was miraculously and instantaneously healed during the celebration of the Eucharist and some time later received, in prayer, the gift of healing for which she has become so widely known. In 1974, again during prayer, she was given a deep spiritual insight into the mystery of the call to priesthood. Since then, bishops and priests in many parts of the world have invited her to speak and minister at their retreats and conferences. Sr. Briege ministered to priests in collaboration with Fr. Kevin Scallon, CM for over forty-two years until his death in June 2018. She now continues with this ministry. Her books “Miracles Do Happen” and “The Power of the Sacraments” have been translated into many languages throughout the world.

FATHER JOHN GORDON is a joyful witness to the Gospel and a popular conference speaker. He is Coordinator of Charismatic Renewal as well as Coordinator of the Office of Evangelization and Vicar for Pastoral Life for the Archdiocese of Newark. He was Formation Director at Franciscan University of Steubenville and has served on the National Service Committee. Fr. John has a passion for preaching and teaching the Word of God in the power of the Spirit and will cause our hearts to “burn within us” (cf. Luke 24:32).

FATHER BEAU CHARBONNET is a native of Louisiana. He often used lively techniques to bring the Gospel to life for his students at Rummel High from 1994 to 1999, all the while leading music ministry for CCRNO prayer groups on both the North and South Shores. Fr. Beau is pastor of St. Angela Merici in Metairie. He is a dynamic preacher and shepherd to both the older parishioners and children of the parish elementary school. His love of God the Father and Our Savior Jesus Christ is animated by an openness to the Holy Spirit! He has a special devotion to Our Blessed Mother, whose hand has been evident in the faith life of his entire family.

When his disciples wanted to learn to pray, Jesus taught them the Our Father with the petition, “Thy kingdom come.” Jesus spoke a great deal about God’s Kingdom, mentioned some 85 times in the gospels.

The petition, “Thy kingdom come,” summarizes the ultimate goal and end-point of creation. It says in 1 Cor. 15:24-28 that in the end, Jesus will present the kingdom to the Father and God will be “all in all.” We join all our interests and intentions with what is most on God’s heart – that his kingdom come. In the Preface of Christ the King, his eternal and universal kingdom is called “a kingdom of truth and life, holiness and grace, justice, love, and peace.”

For 44 years this Conference has been a “kingdom event” in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the Gulf South region. Come and experience the healing prayer and ministry of Sr. Briege McKenna; the preaching and teaching ministry of Fr. John Gordon, Fr. Beau Charbonnet, Jean and Janice Tobin; Testimonies by Alex Lorio and Danny Loar; and the praise, worship and fellowship with hundreds from the region when we will all unite in praying together, “Thy Kingdom Come!
